In short: Trailer To Go is a marketplace where trailer rental businesses list trailers and customers rent them. Everyone must use real details, list and rent only lawful, roadworthy trailers, and pay through the platform. Breaking these rules can lead to a listing being removed or an account being suspended.
1. Who may use Trailer To Go
- Customers must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid South African driver’s licence. They sign up with their own ID number, a photo of their driver’s licence and a selfie holding it, and confirm their email address.
- Trailer rental businesses (owners) can be a registered company or an individual who rents out trailers. They sign up with their details and address, their ID document (or the ID document of a director or authorised representative, for a company) and their CIPC registration document (optional), and confirm their email address. They are approved by our team before their trailers are shown to customers. Earnings are paid only into a bank account in the name of the rental business or its owner.
- Each person or business may have only their own account. You may not open an account for someone else or let someone else use yours (business staff use their own staff log-ins).
2. What may be listed
Only trailers may be listed, and only by the rental business that owns them or has the right to rent them out. Every listed trailer must be:
- roadworthy, lawfully registered and licensed, with a valid licence disc;
- described honestly and accurately — type, size, load capacity, condition, the licence code needed to tow it, and any defects;
- shown with real, current photos of that trailer;
- offered at the price shown on the listing, with no hidden charges.
3. What is not allowed
- Listing a trailer that is stolen, unregistered, unroadworthy or misdescribed, or anything that is not a trailer.
- Giving false, borrowed or forged identity, licence, company or bank details.
- Asking for or taking payment outside Trailer To Go for a booking made on the platform, or arranging to do so.
- Towing without the correct valid driver’s licence, or beyond the legal or manufacturer’s towing limits.
- Using a trailer for any unlawful purpose, or sub-renting it without the rental business’s permission.
- Harassing, threatening or misleading other users, or misusing anyone’s personal information.
- Fraudulent bookings, chargebacks or refund claims, or attempts to get around the platform’s fees or safeguards.
- Interfering with the platform, its security or other users’ accounts.
4. Payments
All bookings made on Trailer To Go are paid through the platform by card. Trailer To Go keeps a 10% service fee from each booking and the rental business receives the rest. Card details are handled by our payment provider and are never seen or stored by Trailer To Go.
5. Reviews
Reviews can only be left after a completed rental and must be honest and lawful. We may hide reviews that are abusive, false or unrelated to the rental.
6. What we do when the rules are broken
- We may remove or hide a listing, refuse or cancel a booking, hold a payout while we investigate, or suspend or close an account.
- Where we suspect fraud or a crime, we may report it to the authorities and to our payment provider, and share information as the law requires.
- To report a listing, a user or a problem with a booking, use Report a problem on the booking in the app or on the website, or email info@trailertogo.co.za.
